Nestled amidst olive trees, on a hillside, above a mosaic of vineyards – this superb setting inspired Claude Rouas to open his magnificent restaurant here in 1981. The superb cuisine, which features the full splendor of the region’s flavours and colours, is enhanced by 15,000 bottles in the cellar. The romantic guest rooms, each with fireplace and private terrace, are housed in country maisons.
Terraced down the hillside with views of the Napa Valley, all accommodations at Auberge du Soleil feature Mediterranean-inspired décor with original contemporary art. All guest rooms, suites and maisons feature Italian linens, down bedding and duvets, Auberge du Soleil’s custom-made bath amenities, plush robes and slippers and private outdoor terraces for relaxing or dining.
Accommodations also include plasma TV, DVD, CD and stereos, mini-bars stocked with complimentary beverages and snacks, espresso machines and toasters, wall safes, voicemail, data ports, turn-down service, welcome amenity and fresh fruit replenished daily.
For many, the name Auberge du Soleil connotes cuisine first, with the inn of the same name a delightful afterthought. Indeed, Auberge du Soleil began as a restaurant created by visionary restaurateur Claude Rouas more than 20 years ago. Since then, the Auberge has maintained its legacy as a culinary destination, where innovative menus inspired by the bounty of Napa Valley are paired with wine in ways that delight and inspire longtime devotees. Executive Chef Robert Curry welcomes guests with beautifully prepared Wine Country cuisine. Curry has brought his own fan base to the Auberge, having spent six years as Executive Chef at nearby Domaine Chandon. Most recently, he was Executive Chef across the valley at the Wine Spectator Greystone Restaurant at the Culinary Institute of America. A native of Los Angeles, Curry began his career working with Wolfgang Puck at Ma Cuisine and later, with Michel Richard and Alain Giraud at Citrus. After traveling the world and training with Alain Ducasse, Michel Rostang and other renowned chefs, he was lured to Napa Valley, where he has established a reputation as one of Wine Country’s finest.
The Auberge Spa is a natural extension of California wine country’s most luxurious country inn, Auberge du Soleil. Built for the exclusive use of the inn’s guests, The Auberge Spa occupies a 7,000 square feet stucco building, overlooking the Napa Valley. It embraces a nurturing philosophy embodied by a unique menu of body and facial treatments, which utilizes natural ingredients indigenous to the region. The Melisse Suite, a spacious spa suite for romantic pairs or four friends, features a fireplace, private tanning deck and heated private pool. Guests can relax in total privacy as they gaze through floor-to-ceiling windows at the panoramic view of Napa Valley and sip a pre-treatment elixir. After enjoying side-by-side treatments, they can soak in a heated private pool overlooking the Valley. Many of the preparations used in the spa treatments feature house-infused oils, as well as calendula, rosemary, lemon balm and other herbs cultivated by the therapists in the spa’s garden.
